Picton Dawn Chorus is helping with the goal of a Predator Free New Zealand by 2050.

Now that feral cats have been added to the list of predators we need to consider our strategy for addressing feral cats in the bush around Picton.

In order to do this we need to have confidence that we are not harming domestic cats. 

PDC would like to see a bylaw enacted to require all domestic cats to be chipped, neutered and registered. This would mean we could check any caught cats near the urban areas are not a pet cat.

Cats are one of the most indiscriminate hunters of our native birds and fauna and so we are advocating for controls only in Picton rather than across Marlborough, for a start.

Will keep domestic cats safe as we protect our native species by reducing the feral cat population.
