Community Hall Maintenance and Repairs
There are about twenty rural community halls throughout Marlborough. Some of these halls no longer serve as a relevant need like they traditionally did. MDC chose to audit the required maintenance and repairs needed to keep the halls serviceable for use within the communities in which they were still relevant. This process has become so protracted, that some of the halls have further deteriorated and left the residents with the uncertainty of the hall's future and viability.
We would like Council to provide funding within the annual budget to proceed with the original process of auditing, and provide sufficient funding to carry out some of the basic repair and maintainance of all halls identified to be of viable value to their communities.
Why the contribution is important
To give support and certainty to the various communities in which their halls provide a valuable function.
