Carved Pataka

The Picton Waitohi Community Garden is located where there was originally a mara kai and mahinga kai. Designs patterns to include hua whenua, hua rakau, tuna and some native trees.  Some Atua such as Haumia-tiketike, Rongomatane and  Tangaroa. Waipuna Stream flows to Waikawa Bay for gathering of kai moana in the past. Consultation with my iwi Te Atiawa and Project Manager of Community Garden for concept designs and location would be required along with interpretation panel. As the area is historical and cultural significance so this carved pataka is appropriate to be located for an attraction to community and visitors. It can be used for surplus fruit/vegetable from the community garden and community also can bring their surplus also.
