Remove willows

The stream from the Port Marlborough Pavilion to Waikawa marina is clogged with willows and other exotic plants - starting from around Ranui St.

There is a short stretch near the pavilion that has already been cleared and replanted with natives and that stretch looks great.

The idea is to continue that good work so that the health of the stream can be restored next to this popular track.

Why the contribution is important

Willows are a pest around waterways and they are harmful to our native biodiversity.

The track next to the stream is a popular walking/bike track for locals and visitors - it has high visibility and is next to the popular Snout tracks/reserve.

This stream would be easily accessible for contractors to do the clearing etc.

It would be desirable to consult and work with local groups to stage the clearing/replanting.
