Dogs on Leash
We request that the area in Duncan Bay Tennyson Inlet from the bridge approaching the settlement to the wharf and all residential streets be designated as a dogs on leash area.
We suggest that a dog off leash exercise area be permitted from the northern end of the Recreation area which is adjacent to the river and runs to the tidal flats.
We also suggest that dogs are totally prohibited from the two small swimming beaches at the DOC reserve.
Why the contribution is important
Unleashed dogs are causing a problem throughout the Bay with fouling on walkways, road reserve areas, inside and outside private properties, the beaches, recreation areas, launching ramp and car parks.
The numbers of Dogs coming into the area has grown exponentially and many left to wander at will. Some properties, especially rentals, are not fenced or adequately fenced leaving the dogs to make unwelcome visits to others properties leaving their deposits.
There seems to be the belief that it is a country area and dogs can have free reign off leash with their owners being oblivious to their actions and therefore their fouling is left for others to tread in, sit on or have to remove.
